The identity of the mystery racing car driver, who never removes his helmet on the BBC Two show Top Gear, has been the subject of of speculation for years.
Now the original Stig speaks out. Perry McCarthy, a racing driver for over 20 years, and the original Stig has revealed his identity.
He spoke to BBC Breakfast about what it is like to keep your identity a secret,
He said, “creating a mystery racing driver was a bit of fun”. He has now revealed his identity for his new book, although the BBC has gone to court to try to halt its publication.
You might not drive like the Stig, but keeping your identity details secret can be very important. Personal information can be used to create a false identity in your name – including your driving licence. To avoid the risk of identity theft be sure to shred all your confidential material.
