ZDNet report: “A malware-laden flash drive inserted in a laptop at a US military base in the Middle East in 2008 led to the "most significant breach" of the nation's military computers ever, according to a new magazine article by a top defence official.”
This news highlights the risk that the convenience of USB ports pose organisations. USB flash drives are often shared amongst employees of different organisations who can unintentionally place their organisations at risk.
USB ports also allows data to be quickly copied and taken outside of the security of the network and the protection of the IT department.
